1. Welcome to Society of Indian Law Firms (“SILF”, “Website”, “Site” “Service”, “we”). By using this Website, you agree to be bound by all of the terms of this Agreement (the “User Agreement”). SILF reserves the right to change the terms of this User Agreement or to modify any features of this Website at any time without notice. Any change to this User Agreement shall become a part of this User Agreement and shall apply as soon as they are posted.

The most current version of the User Agreement can be viewed at any time at SILF.org.in. Your use of this Service constitutes your agreement to all such terms, conditions and policies as SILF may post on the website from time to time. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any new features or functionality (including, without limitation, pictures, video or any other related feature) that augment or enhance the Service provided through this Website, shall be subject to this User Agreement.

“User” would include all the registered Member Firms who have been issued Unique IDs or UIDs, and all & any such registered (includes Lawyers and employees of the Member Firms) or unregistered persons who visit the Site, browse and/or post content on the Site (“content” includes any comments, pictures/photographs, videos, personal information, data, documents, webcasts, and links to other sites), use or transmit/share or download or upload content to the Site.

“User” would also include any Law Firm which would apply for membership by submitting a request for the Membership form and shall continue to be considered as a “User” till the membership application is rejected.

Modification, Suspension or Discontinuance

2. SILF reserves the right to modify or discontinue at any time and from time to time, temporarily or permanently, the Website or any Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice including the availability of any Service feature, database, or content. SILF may also impose limits on certain features and services or restrict your access to parts or all of the Service without notice or liability. It is hereby agreed that SILF shall not be liable to any User or any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Website or the Service.

Copyright and related rights

3. The contents of the Website are intended for your personal, non-commercial use. All materials published on the Website (including, but not limited to news articles, photographs, images, illustrations, audio clips and video clips, (“Content”) are protected by copyright, and owned or controlled by SILF, or the party credited as the provider of the Content. The User shall abide by all additional copyright notices, information, or restrictions contained in any Content accessed through the Service or Website.

4. By posting or submitting content on or to the Service (regardless of the form or medium with respect to such content, whether text, videos, photographs, audio or otherwise), the User gives SILF, and its affiliates, agents and third party contractors the right to display or publish such content on the Website and its affiliated publications (either in the form submitted or in the form of a derivative or adapted work), to store such content, and to distribute such content and use such content for promotional and marketing purposes.

5. The User may download or copy the Content and other downloadable items displayed on the Service for personal use only. Unless expressly permitted, a User may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, enter into a database, display, perform, modify, create derivative works, transmit, or in any way exploit any part of this Website or Service.

User Generated Content: Representation and Warranties

6. The User shall be solely responsible for their own submissions and the consequences of posting or publishing them. In connection with each of the User’s submissions, the User affirms, represents, and/or warrants that:

  • The User has the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize SILF to use all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights in and to any and all such submissions to SILF; and
  • The User shall not upload, or distribute or otherwise publish on to the Service any libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, or otherwise illegal material.
  • The User agrees that he/she will not threaten or verbally abuse other Members, use defamatory language, or deliberately disrupt discussions with repetitive messages, meaningless messages or “spam.”
  • The User agrees to use respectful language. The User agrees not to use language that abuses or discriminates on the basis of race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual preference, age, region, disability, etc. Hate speech of any kind is grounds for immediate and permanent suspension of access to all or part of the Service.
  • The Service shall be used only in a non-commercial manner. You shall not, without the express approval of SILF distribute or otherwise publish any material containing any solicitation of funds, advertising or solicitation for goods or services.
  • The User also specifically warrants and undertakes that he/she shall not
  • violate, plagiarize, or infringe upon the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy or other personal or proprietary rights;
  • publish falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage SILF or any third party;
  • submit material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, violate any law, or is otherwise inappropriate;

7. The User also acknowledges that any submissions made to the Service (i.e., user-generated content including but not limited to: comments, forum messages, reviews, text, video, audio and photographs, as well as computer code and applications) (each, a “Submission”) may be edited, removed, modified and displayed by SILF in such modified manner and you waive any rights you may have in having the material altered or changed in a manner not agreeable to you.

8. The User hereby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless SILF and its affiliates, and their respective members, directors, officers, managers, employees, shareholders, agents, and licensors, from and against all losses, expenses, damages and costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, resulting from any violation by the User of this Agreement.

Registration and Security

9. As part of the registration process, the User will select a password and a Member ID. The User also has to give us certain registration information, all of which must be accurate and updated.

10. A User may not:

  • use a Member ID in which another person has rights without such person’s authorization; or
  • use a Member ID that SILF, in its sole discretion, deems offensive.
  • User shall be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of his/her password, which the User will not have to reveal to any representative or agent of SILF
  • Failure to comply with the foregoing shall constitute a breach of these Terms of Service, which may result in immediate termination of your account

  • User shall notify administrator@SILF.org.in of any known or suspected unauthorized use(s) of his/her account, or any known or suspected breach of security, including loss, theft, or unauthorized disclosure of your password or credit card information.

  • User is responsible for all usage or activity on your SILF account, including use of the account by any third party authorized by you to use your Member UID and password. Any fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise illegal activity would be a ground for termination of your account, at SILF’s sole discretion, and SILF may refer you to appropriate law enforcement agencies.


11. The User may terminate the account at any time by sending an e-mail to: administrator@SILF.org.in. Upon termination, you will receive an automated confirmation via e-mail that the request was received, and your access will be suspended within 24 hours. You are responsible for any and all charges incurred (for products or services purchased) up to the time the account is deactivated.

12. SILF may, in its sole discretion, terminate or suspend your access to all or part of the Website/Service for any reason, including, without limitation, breach or assignment of these Terms of Service.

13. The account of registered Member Firms shall also be terminated in case of non-payment of yearly dues/fees before expiry of said account, as was mentioned at the time of registration.

Governing Law

14. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of India.
